It’s been a while since I last posted. I just realized that there was a problem with the blog’s permalinks that resulted in a 404 error. I’ve fixed that today.
The PSU in my desktop pc “asploded.” Money has been tight since I was fired a couple months ago, so I have been unable to replace it. Unfortunately, my older model scanner is not Vista compatible for my laptop, and I have lost the charger to my camera since my trip to Vegas, meaning I can’t upload any new art that isn’t completely digital. Fortunately, I do have one new piece I can show here: a fluff piece that I used just to get myself working again after a whole year’s hiatus. As if it isn’t obvious through my body of work that I’m a girl. I draw animals and princesses. I can has job?
I’m trying to get my website redesigned so I can get it back online. I’m halfway through a mockup. I’m also teaching myself PHP and MySQL. I do have a series of three paintings of Ford Mustangs that I made for my boyfriend’s birthday. I hope to get those up here once I get a new PSU or find my camera’s battery charger. Until then enjoy a sparkly princess.
Here’s the result of that Secret Santa art trade back in December. I didn’t get to work on it as much as I had wanted to, but I did manage to get the coloring done pretty quickly. For a quicky, I’m not too disappointed in this one.
I’ve signed on board for an artistic Secret Santa with a group of friends from a message board. I’ve never done one of these before, and I’ve never drawn something for another artist. I’m looking forward to getting started, as this is the kind of small project I’ve been needing. The new job is kind of sucking the life out of me creatively, leaving me too mentally “Blah” to care about drawing in the evenings or the weekends. I’m hoping to slowly start climbing my way back out of this funk I’ve been in for the last month and a half.
Meet Ursus maritimus. Completed over 2 days spent at the Memphis Zoo, by far my favorite place in this armpit of the South.
This piece could have been much better. I could have employed more perspective into it, which is definitely the weakest part of it. My scanner is just barely too small for the 9″ x 12″ size, so I was forced to take a digital photo instead. Thus it killed all the detail.
Got at least one completed zoo painting to post in the next couple days. I also have a couple more things on my plate as far as draw-for-pay goes. I don’t expect to get to work my regular job very much in the next week and a half, so I’m hoping I can get these couple things knocked out in relatively painless fashion.
School has started back for local public school kids, and the college is probably due to start classes in the next couple weeks. It’s weird to think that it’s going to happen without catching me up in it anymore. That mad rush for books and supplies and registering classes? No longer a concern of mine. Instead, I get to look forward to paying back a lifetime of student loans come November.
I graduated on May 5th. Finally. I’m so glad to be done with it all.
But why is it that two weeks later all I can feel is regret?
Commencement is tomorrow morning. The dress is bought, the invitations have been sent out, the party is planned. The weather is looking like it might actually hold out for this little outdoor ceremony.
It’s going to be strange to say that I am a college graduate. Now what?
Today I finished my last assignment as a college student.
To help this fact sink in, I blew my entire night browsing the internet without feeling guilty about it.
Tomorrow is my last real day of class *EVAR!*. I had to miss my final illustration class today to go to court for a wreck I had a month ago. There are a couple of prints I have to finish this weekend for my lithography class, and then, apart from commencement on May 5th, my college career will finally be over. It’s been a long time in the coming, and there’s been a lot of heartache on the way. I will be the first college graduate of my generation on my mom’s side of the family, and possibly on my dad’s side as well.
I somehow managed to get grease from the lithography press all over my clothes yesterday. I’m still not quite sure how that happened, but I’m hoping my RiverKings hockey shirt isn’t ruined from it.
Things I want to do when/if I graduate in a couple weeks:
Design my website and actually get it back online after 2 years.
Integrate my blog layout with my site design
Go life drawing at the zoo more
Get my apartment clean once and for all
Save more money for a new car to replace the one that was totaled
Pay back my mom what I owe her for my wisdom teeth surgery
Pay back Keith what I owe him for my frames for my senior show
Take the cats to the vet for a checkup/annual vaccinations
Finish that cross stitch I started last summer
Complete Neverwinter Nights 2
Start (and hold to) an exercise routine
It seems that I have a problem finishing things that I start.
